Privacy Policy — PulseIron

Last updated: 6 August 2026

PulseIron ("the app", "we", "us") is a gym workout tracker for iOS. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and the choices you have.

PulseIron has no accounts and no login. We don't ask for your name, email, or phone number. Your workout data is saved on your device and backed up to the cloud under a random, anonymous identifier for this install (free and automatic). Optional PulseIron Pro subscriptions are purchased through Apple; we never see or store your payment card details.

Summary

What data the app handles

Workout data (on your device and backed up to the cloud)

The plans you build and the workouts you log — exercises, sets, reps, weights, durations, timestamps, and notes — are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData.

When you save a plan or finish a workout, that data is also backed up to our cloud database (Google Firebase Firestore). Cloud backup is free and automatic. A workout in progress stays on your device until you finish it.

The backup is tied to an anonymous identifier for this install of the app. Deleting or reinstalling the app removes that identifier from the device, so the app cannot restore the previous backup after a reinstall. The backup is for safekeeping and online sync while the app remains installed — it is not a multi-device account and does not survive uninstall.

App settings

Preferences such as your unit of measure (kilograms or pounds) are stored only on your device.

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets

If you add a PulseIron widget, the app copies a small summary of your streak, next plan name, and last workout name/date into an on-device App Group container so the widget can display it without opening the full app. That summary stays on your device; it is not uploaded separately. Removing the widget or deleting the app removes it with the app's local data.

Anonymous identifier

On first launch, the app signs in to Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which generates a random identifier for your install. Your cloud backup is stored against this identifier. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any personal information. Because the identifier lives only on this install, deleting or reinstalling the app creates a new identifier; the app cannot reconnect to the previous backup. The backup is for safekeeping while the app remains installed; it is not a sign-in that follows you across devices or through a reinstall.

Purchases and subscriptions (PulseIron Pro)

PulseIron may offer optional auto-renewable subscriptions (for example monthly or yearly PulseIron Pro) that unlock features such as Advanced Analytics, custom exercises, and unlimited workouts beyond the free allowance.

Exercise catalogue and images

The exercise catalogue text is delivered from Firebase, and exercise demonstration images are loaded from a public content delivery network (jsDelivr). Loading an image is a standard network request. No personal data is sent.

Feedback and ratings

If you use Send Feedback, the app opens your email app — you decide what to include. If you use Rate Us, Apple's standard App Store rating prompt is shown.

Analytics and crash reporting

We use Firebase Analytics to count which screens you open and a small number of in-app actions (for example, starting or finishing a workout, saving a plan, changing the unit or appearance, or interacting with Pro / paywall screens). We use Firebase Crashlytics so that if the app crashes we automatically receive a stack trace, the device model and OS version, and a list of the recent screens you visited. Both are tied to the same random anonymous identifier. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and there is no cross-app tracking.

Cloud services (third parties)

What we do NOT do

Data retention and deletion

Local data: Deleting the app from your device removes the workout data stored on the device, including any locally cached subscription status.

Cloud backup: Your backup remains until you request its deletion. Contact us using the details below.

Subscriptions: Cancelling or deleting the app does not automatically cancel a subscription. Manage billing and cancellation through Apple. Apple retains purchase records under Apple's policies.

Children's privacy

PulseIron is not directed at children under 13. The app does not collect identifying personal information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Purchase and billing records for subscriptions are held by Apple. To make a request about data we hold, contact us below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
